Double Wedding Ring Quilt Top is Complete

I managed to finish another quilt top last week. This one took me only about 10 hours to complete. Actually it was 99% complete when I purchased it on Ebay back in January. The lady who sold it to me said that her grandmother started it several years ago and never finished it before she passed away. Below are the pictures before and after I finished it. There is still plenty of fabric left so maybe I'll make a couple of matching pillows or pillow shams. Anyway, this will eventually be a gift for our older son and his fiancee. I will do 100% of the quilting. It's on the top of the pile to start working on after I finish my husband's famous log cabin quilt.

You can see the empty spaces in the middle of the wedding ring designs and the outer edges above.
Below is the finished quilt top. I sewed the missing squares around the perimeter and in the center of those wedding ring designs. The perimeter had been started but it wasn't done correctly so I had to remove lots of that and re-do it. I also added the top two rows of the quilt top.

Have a nice day!

  1. I have a smiliar quilt top that is my grandmothers. The squares are missing and I don't know which is the best way of putting them in. Should I sew the 4 squares together and then place in the centers or sew each of the 4 squares to each arch then complete. I am a new quilter but plan to complete is all by hand. Prayers are accepted.

  2. Hi Tami,

Yes you should sew all 4 squares together first, then sew them to the centers. ; )

  3. How can I purchase a quilt top like this. My son is getting married and my mom would like to quilt a quilt top for a wedding gift.
