Cornhole Bean Bag Tutorial

As promised, I have the cornhole bean bag tutorial ready for you. You can find instructions to make the two game boxes - or buy a set of two - via a Google search.

I have uploaded the PDF file at the following link if you prefer to download the bean bag instructions: http://www.ecraftclasses.com/class/11080/Free%20Cornhole%20Bean%20Bags.

Cornhole Bean Bag Tutorial

Each bag will finish at about 6” square and will weigh 16 oz. when finished.  This tutorial is for extra sturdy bean bags. The project to complete 8 bags takes less than a day. Half a yard of fabric will actually yield 7 completed bags if you want to make extra just in case one should bust. (c) 2014 ECraftClasses, Sew Practical, Mom and Pop Craft. All Rights Reserved.

Supplies
2 colors -- ½ yard each of duck cotton fabric
16 oz. (1 lb.) of filler for each bag (corn feed, rice, beans, beads, doll pellets, etc.)
Shipping or kitchen scales to weigh the filled bags
Note: Corn feed is cheaper but not always the preferred choice.

                                                                         Instructions
1.Cut eight 8” squares from each color (16 total squares) to make 4 bean bags from each color.

2. Press under ½” on each side. Pinning may be helpful since duck fabric is so thick. This doubled fabric will strengthen the edges that are vulnerable to tearing when tossing around all that weight.

3. After you are finished, squares will be 7” square.

4. Pin right sides together.

5. Mark the bottom of the wrong side 1” from right and left edges. Repeat for all 8 bean bags.

6. Use ¼” seam allowance to sew the bean bags together. I use the triple stitch setting on my machine for additional strength. Leave open between the marks.

7. Turn and fill.

Bag will measure about 6” square after turning

Fill until bag weighs 16 oz.

 8. Use two rows of stitches to sew the opening closed. Again, I use the triple stitch setting.

Two rows of triple stitches for closure

Have a nice day!
