New Quilt Top and Curtains

With the holidays nearing an end, I have been working on a few simple projects. I made the quilt top from this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNoZXjt_Ay0&list=TLjHWg_IlguQsQ_0PW_hZ-S40PMSyQvt1U.

I must admit that even though I did use a jelly roll rather than cutting strips myself, it took me about 2 hours and 45 minutes to piece the strips and create the quilt top. Mine finished at about 64 inches x 37 inches. I'm not certain when I will get time to quilt it. Ü My friend, Vicki, shared this similar video with me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bEJLnaZQOU.

I also made two sets of curtains for the office. I had several yards of pink and white plaid homespun fabric that I had left over from my wholesale sewing days AND enough white muslin to use as backing for all four curtains. I still have enough of the fabrics left over to make a matching rag wreath.

Have a nice day!

  2. Beautiful, as always. Did it take a large portion of your time, on the quilt top, to piece the jelly roll together before beginning the actual topped?? In the videos they don't share the amount of time that it took to prepare that portion.

Love the curtains. Pink....of course. LOL

    1. Thank you Mama Bee. Honestly it only took about an hour to piece the ends of the strips together and I spent the rest of the time (nearly 2 hours) making the quilt top which is way longer than the 40 minutes it took them to do in their videos. However, I do like to have a neat 1/4" seam allowance and the ladies demonstrating in the videos were not worrying about that in order to show that part could be done in less than an hour. Ü
